I made a statement yesterday that wasn't understood by some, so I will explain it: The success of RM / Xabi in the UCL depends on Kylian and Jude Kylian: Last season in the UCL, Vini the player with less defensive duties in the Madrid side was averaging 9,9 km/ 90 ( This season it is 8,8 km). Rodry who is praised by many for his defensive side of the game is averaging this season 9,7 km/ 90( that is less than Vini last season). I haven’t checked Jude stats, but I am sure there is also a decline there. So what happened, why is there a decline in their defensive numbers? Because the new guy upfront activity without the ball is almost nonexistent ( 8 km/90). Defense is contagious. When the defense and the midfield see the forwards participating in the defensive side of the game, they are encourage to go a mile further.
