Stearns has turned the farm system completely around in 2 calendar year’s time That comes from hiring the right people throughout the org, and focusing on player dev in ways this org hasn’t done since the 80s, and it’s highly unlikely they’d have the level of prospects they do top to bottom across their system if not for Stearns and the philosophy / people he brought in Eppler’s FO would likely have traded guys it shouldn’t and/or failed to develop players like Reimer, Watson, McLean, Tong, Sproat, and others That doesn’t mean they didn’t have a solid veteran core entering 2024, which was a big part of why they made that run, but the players Stearns brought in played big roles, too
