I know this crop of players might be the least revered in these streets of MM ever but the lengths some are going to deflect any responsibility from the gaffer are just amazing… Xabi picks the team and decides how we play unless we wanna also believe that evil Vini strip him of those powers too then the buck should stop with him . Pulling five players to the defence line was a choice, playing literally with only two man midfield was a choice, moving Rodrygo from the right where he’d been a massive revelation was his choice , shuffling Fede who’s arguably our best right back was a choice , assencio who’s our fastest most aggressive CB being moved to where we all know he struggles was a choice etc etc . Waiving the white flag and letting Barca control play and trying to contain them instead of attacking and making them uncomfortable was also a choice. Watch any La liga team against Barca even without success a times but you’ll see the mechanisms turning to exploit that high line … what did we do of that ? I liked Xabi the player i think he was a Realmadrid great but as a coach he hasn’t shown yet anything worthy of throwing the whole roster under the bus . Look how nervous Arda is with the ball lately? One minute he was the corner stone of this project next minute banished! Mastantuono ? That kills confidence and sow doubt in the players mind . Terrible man management. Terrible in game readings , shows too much respect to opponents that’s not how to coach Madrid . To me the Xabi experiment should be over with and he was undone by his own poor choices and lack of conviction in his own methods and some poor squad planning by the board . Not some imaginary player power or some on field revolt to not following his instructions yada yada . This is Xabi-ball he’s in charge and the players match to his orders . The tactics , lineups , substitutions , player fitness, rotations all his judgment and it leaves a lot to be desired for . Hopefully down the line after a coach with a stronger conviction reshapes this squad Ala Mourinho and with healthier recruitment Xabi ball might just flourish but for now the vision or backbone just isn’t there ….
