The Daily Hilario: Sunday - We Ain't Got No History
Lads, it's Paris
0The Daily Hilario: Monday - We Ain't Got No History
Very hard to pick out a top 3 from last nights performances, but I think some detailed appraisals are needed.Sanchez - cannot overstate just how exceptional he was. He played so far above his usual levels, I don't think I've ever seen any footballer in any game ever raise their game for one match as much as he did. Shot stopping was out of this world, super composed in the face of PSG's pressing and his distribution was absolutely pinpoint. Every long ball seemed to reach someone, utterly outstanding.Maresca - I've been as critical of Maresca as anyone, but there's no doubt that he won us that trophy. He's been like a different manager this tournament, it's like the team have become the total opposite of what we were during the depths of our slum earlier this year. Fluid, direct, rapid, flexible, unpredictable and clinical. I know a lot of this is post-trophy euphoria, but I would go so far as to say this tournament he's turned me into a believer. Last night was the real litmus test and he passed with flying colours.Chalobah - He has quietly become our most reliable defender, there's surely no way he can be sold now. Superb anticipation and front-footed defending throughout, it's no surprise that he finished with the highest pass completion of any player in the whole tournament. That is an absolutely mind-blowing stat, the likes of which we haven't seen since JT. Pacy, composed and always in the right place. Love him.Honestly, that might have been the best team performance I've ever seen from Chelsea - every single player in that starting XI gave a 9/10 or 10/10 performance.
